What is the difference between Bikini and Brazilian?
There are three different types of pubic hair removal;
- Bikini – the sides! Cleaning up the outside lines of where a bathing suit or
underwear line sits. Includes one strip off of the top if desired. - Full Bikini – the sides and as much as you want off the top! This is for
those looking for something in between a Bikini and Brazilian. - Brazilian – everything front and back. Includes sides, top, labia, and butt
strip.
I’ve never done Sugaring before. What is it?
Sugar paste is applied with a gloved hand in the opposite direction of hair growth. Then it is flicked off in the direction of hair growth, meaning it does not break the hair backward leaving you with smooth, hairless skin. The paste itself is 100% organic and made of just sugar, lemon, and water and applied at body temperature so there is no risk of burning. Did we mention no sticks or strips? The best part of sugaring is that regular treatments lead to reduced hair growth and discomfort. Thinner, lighter, sparser hair while being eco-friendly and totally trendy!
What is Sugaring Paste? Is it safe?
Sugar paste is a unique 100% organic product made of sugar, lemon juice, and water (that’s it). So natural and non-toxic that you can even eat it like candy. You really can! The paste is water soluble which means it can be removed easily with warm water. No smell, no artificial colors, no toxins, no resins, just three simple ingredients.
How should I prepare for a Sugaring appointment?
Exfoliate the area 24 hours prior to sugaring using circular motions. Don’t have an exfoliator? Stop by to grab an organic scrub. Drink lots of water on the day of your appointment and avoid any lotions, serums, or deodorant.
How often should I get Sugared?
We generally recommend getting sugared once every three weeks at the start of your sugaring journey. This allows your esthetician to remove the hair early in its growth cycle and have the best chance of thinning or even permanent hair reduction. Depending on your skin and hair type, it can be 4-6 weeks thereafter. The general rule is – the more often you do it, the thinner and less visible your hair becomes. Ask your esthetician about your skin type to help determine how often you should get sugared.
How long does my hair have to be?
We recommend your hair to be from 1/4′′ long (or the length of a grain of rice). If you have been shaving prior to sugaring, try giving yourself ten days without removing the hair before booking your appointment for the smoothest result.
Why not shave?
Shaving removes the hair at the shaft or skin’s surface level, which not only re-grows with a stubbly feel but can leave you feeling itchy and uncomfortable. Razors often harbor bacteria which can lead to irritations or infections. All of that trouble for hair to regrow in a day or two and to have to start the process all over again.
Does Sugaring hurt? Is it as bad as waxing?
The vast majority of clients report their sugaring experiences to be less painful than waxing. Remember, sugar paste does not adhere to live skin cells so there is no skin pulling, and hair is removed in the same direction as it grows. Skin redness disappears much faster as there is less trauma to the skin. Once you begin sugaring regularly, your hair will become lighter and thinner resulting in an even less uncomfortable experience.
I started my period. Can I still get Sugared?
Yes, we just ask that you wear a tampon during your service. Your body may be more or less sensitive than normal during this time of the month but we will do our best to keep you as comfortable as possible.
I am pregnant! Can I still make an appointment?
Congratulations! Yes! Sugaring services are safe for women throughout pregnancy. Please note, you may be more sensitive than normal due to hormonal changes but we will do our best to keep you as comfortable as possible.
What do I need to know for Aftercare?
Pores will be open for about 24 hours after your sugaring service and will be more susceptible to bacteria. Avoid tanning, hot showers, friction, tight clothing, exercise/sweat, and open water for 24 hours. Aftercare is important to maintain results! Exfoliate using a Sugaring NYC organic scrub 48 hours after treatment. Use circular motions to remove dead skin cells, bacteria/dirt/build-up every 2-3 days. This helps keep hair growing up and away from the skin reducing ingrown hairs. Hydrate as needed.
Is there anywhere I cannot sugar?
Just a few; scalp, beard, ears, and nostrils. Everywhere else, we can take care of it!
